YOT Toy Kit

Yot is inspired by modular toys from Bauhaus, particularly
those by Alma Siedhoff-Buscher. Alma gave kids freedom
to create, provoked their imagination. I started the project
thinking about designing a toy for refugee kids, so that I
could help bring a little joy. But as I kept researching, I was
taken by their creativity and attitude, their resourcefulness
in creating toys out of available materials. I asked myself,
what is the definition of a toy? Does it have to be a
designed object? Could kids create their own toys?
I realized that I could provide kids with a toy kit using everyday materials. After several experiments I chose cardboard because of its availability and ability to be used. I developed a modular toy kit for children to freely create their own toys.
